Results and news from the Toyota Challenge, the fourth stop in the 2008 AST Dew tour.

The points race for the 2008 Dew Cup is coming down to the wire and the action was intense as the AST Dew Tour made its fourth stop for the Toyota Challenge. The four-day event, which took place September 11-14, 2008 in Salt Lake City, UT delivered even more excitement as the coveted Dew Cups seems to be more up for grabs than ever before at this point in the tour.

Skateboard Vert and Park

In the Park comp, 14-year old rookie, Chaz Ortiz pulled off his first pro comp win. Ortiz, the winner of the 2007 Free Flow Amateur Championship, is only eight points behind three-time winner, Ryan Sheckler. Furthermore, only 15 points separate Sheckler, Ortiz and Paul Rodriquez. Any of them could walk away with the cup.

The Vert comp is just as close with four winners in as many stops. Among the winners are Bucky Lasek, Shaun White, Bob Burnquist and Andy MacDonald, whose win at the Toyota Challenge was his first AST Dew final win. But don’t count out the other competitors. Pierre-Luc Gagnon and Sandro Dias (who has been close to landing a 900 in comp) are eager to grab the win for themselves.

BMX Vert, Park and Dirt

Daniel Dhers won his fourth event at the Toyota Challenge and is almost certain to win his third Dew Cup (he just needs to show up at this point), Mike Spinner is doing what he can to assure that it isn’t easy. Dhers may be the first athlete to win all five events in a season, if he can hold off Spinner at the final stop in Orlando. Chad Kagy is still battling to catch Jamie Bestwick, he is 30 points behind after the Toyota Challenge.
